I will preface this by saying that I used to have severe depression.
In 2009 I found minecraft Infdev. Playing that, even as simple as it was, helped me to deal with stress in a new way. I started playing minecraft more and more often as new updates were released. By version 1.3 I was playing quite regularly. In october 2012 I found HHG and really enjoyed it. Soon after, minecraft 1.4.2 was released. After 1.4.2 was released I started working with command blocks and making puzzles using them. Around version 1.5 and 1.6 when more new blocks were added, I started to be interested in building. I became extremely good with redstone, not genius, but still good. I would also build houses, and then realize that the terrain around them did not work well with the style of house. It was then that I started terraforming. I originally started by doing everything by hand. I would make hills, valleys, mountains, ravines, rivers, jungles, and other terrain all by hand. Soon after 1.7 was released and I started to realize the potential of worldedit and how it could speed up my terraforming. At that time I was no longer interested in building structures, and instead was more focused on terrain. Mountains sprung to life in my worlds, rivers became canyons, caves became huge cave systems and opened into huge. A whole new world was opened to me. With mesa biomes, and roofed forests, and newer terrain generation I became more obsessed with making it even more realistic. In 1.8 I started to learn VoxelSniper and found that it was way better than worldedit. It was about that time that I joined with _Bach_ and formed REKT Build team. I became one of the primary terraformers for REKT as well as administrator of the build server. After REKT released its first 3 or 4 maps, I applied for BuildTeam on HHG and was accepted. I now do mainly terraforming, but also assist on other builds.
Thats only a summary of my minecraft experience, and does not include much of my personal life.
