How Do I Know If A Thread Is "dead"

So I look at threads and sometimes ask a question or comment on it, but then I get warned about reviving dead threads, my comment gets deleted or I get a warning about necro-posting (Did I spell that right?). It would be nice to know how to tell if a thread is dead, so I don't get in trouble.

When a certain time has passed since the last reply it is "dead"

(About 1-2 weeks, not sure exact)

Yeah SAFollis is about right, just try not to go over 1 week.

Yes, this will include your own threads due to the fact there should be no need to post on them after a week. If posting on the thread after a week or two is need it will be more than likely that a forums moderator will come and check why you did so.
