I have always envied admins ever since I started Minecraft. Admin, a player who can use every command and do just about everything on the server. Some, I adore. Some, I want to get to quit the server. Admins are one of the most important things you must have on a server if you want things to be less work for the owner and to help the growth of the server. I have always wanted to become an admin and I think I could stand out from all the other ones because I think I could manage the stress but who knows, I hear it's extremely stressful so I don't know what to expect. But here are some things that I've noticed actual admins do on servers that just ticks me off. Basically, this is just a list of what NOT to do as an admin. I am not covering all the bases, there is still a lot more you shouldn't do if you're an admin, but I can't cover it all so this is just a small list.



1. If you are an admin you need to be mature, you need to be classy (just kidding), you need to be respectful, but the most important thing is that you can't fool around. I'm not saying that you are not allowed to fool around, I mean, you have to get that stress out somehow. But please, do not fool around when there are people asking for help or if you're supposed to be doing something helpful. It is annoying to the owner to see that the so-called "amazing" administrators are just there to have fun with all their permissions. Also, if you are just a normal everyday player such as myself, you don't want to be on a server with foolish, lazy admins.




2. I cannot and will not stress this rule enough. Please DO NOT MUTE/KICK PLAYERS FOR FUN. I have experienced this way too many times in my server time and let me tell you, it is not amusing to just be walking then you get muted for ten minutes so the admins can have a good laugh while you struggle to help other players or try to express your opinion about something and you can't.



Another thing about the muting. Let's say there was an admin on that absolutely loves rugby, but you don't really like the game. The admin is is spamming the chat with "I love rugby.", and "Rugby is the best sport ever.", so you try to express your opinion and say "In all honestly, I just don't really like that sport, could we maybe talk about a different topic?", and BAM, muted for two hours because you don't like a sport. You could have also said "Rugby isn't really all that great in my opinion.", and WHAM, kicked from the server or sometimes even banned. If you are lucky and get the kick, when you log back in, WHAM again! Kicked for the second to seventh time!




3. There are server rules for a reason. Everyone should respect them and follow them. If I spam the chat with caps, I am probably going to get muted for a while until I've learned my lesson. What do I see ten minutes later? The admin who muted me, singing their favourite song in full caps from start to finish. This reason irritates me so much that this might turn into a rant so I'm just going to keep it short. Admins, please respect the rules you enforce.
