So I was reading the "Player Reports" subform recently, and I realized something; a fair amount of naming-and-shaming occurs. I'm not bashing anyone, I think this is a really dope server. (Why ELSE would I spend 60$ on it?)
But I digress. I have noticed that on our beloved forums, when someone gets reported it's made known to everyone. Is that really the best? What if they get reported with supposed "proof" and the case is dismissed? Not everyone is going to be happy with every single decision the admins make. (Although you guys are EPIC!)
So here's my proposal. Set up either an in-game /report feature, or have a server email. Both of those have worked on other servers I have seen, and greatly reduce the stigma and shame of rule-breaking...
While still allowing for the appropriate action.
When you make a report it isn't a community thing, from what I've seen. It's for the admins to either dismiss or act upon. I don't believe that the community should necessarily see people get reported.
I'm a fan of the popular MMMORPG Spiral Knights, and I believe that their system is rather intuitive. They actually disallow naming-and-shaming and bashing on the forums, instead favouring email reports.
Well, that's just my two cents. Thanks for reading this far.
