As safollis said the islands are about the elements. And having "Hi" above the crafting bench is the map creators choice.

You said in the description that it had an unflat bottom but maybe instead of just adding layers of wood add an island under. :)

No, this map is still extremely bland and there are no islands those are more like floating cages.
