Invalid Silk touch ability disappeared

I've had the Silk Touch Spawners ability for a couple of months, and have used it before to harvest a couple of blaze spawners from the nether.

I won it again a few days ago. Today I tried to silk touch a spawner I placed, and it disappeared instead of letting me pick it up. Is it possible that the second time I won the same ability it toggled the ability off?

Double-checking my pickaxe, it is Efficiency V, Silk Touch, Unbreaking III. I am using 1.12.2. Thanks.

hmmm, did you check the area around you? sometimes it glitches to go really far away from you
