Sg Maps

I really want to help make maps for SG, but I don't know all of the requirements for making one, so if someone could please answer some questions I have that would be nice
1. Is a normal plot big enough to make a map on?
2. Do you have to know about command blocks and world edit?
3. are there any special requirements for a map? In other words, should I add chests or does that get done of it gets accepted?

1. Absolutely not. Make it in single player.
2. No it just makes it easier and the command blocks can help you add cool effects which aren't essential.
3. Yes, add chests but don't fill them.

Ah alright, I suppose the Plots may be kinda really small for SG maps, but if I made it in single player how would I submit it?
